5 players who can set the stage on fire in IPL 2021

The first half of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 started from 9th April 2021 but was postponed due to increasing cases amid Covid Pandemic on 2nd of May when some players came positive.

BCCI has now rescheduled the remaining matches in UAE from 19th September. In what is supposed to be the clash of the titans, the first match of the second phase will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in Dubai.

Avesh Khan, the young pacer from Delhi Capitals was brilliant in the first half of IPL which was played in India. He took 14 wickets in 8 matches with a brilliant economy of only 7.7 He was the highest wicket-taker for Delhi Capitals.

He stood 2nd in the tally of most wickets among all teams, only Harshal Patel with 17 wickets was ahead of him.

He also had the 3rd best economy of 9.10 in death overs (17-20), only Bumrah (7.92) and Sam Curran (8.57) were ahead of him among the bowlers who have bowled min 5 overs in death overs.

Faf has been the best batsman for CSK in the first half of IPL. He has scored 320 runs in 7 innings striking at the rate of 145.45 with a brilliant average of 64.

He stood 3rd in the tally of most runs overall. He had the 2nd best strike rate as opener (145.45), only Prithvi Shaw (167.48) had better than him. In the CPL few days back he scored 120* against St Kitts & also a 84(54) in yesterday’s game. He is now the 2nd highest run scorer of CPL of the current season.

In 2020 also, when CSK didn’t have a good season in UAE, he was the best batsman for CSK with 449 runs in 13 innings with an average of 40.81 and strike rate of 140.75.

Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone hasn’t got many chances in the IPL but due to the unavailability of his English mate Jos Buttler, he is the main guy for RR in the second half of the tournament.

He has been in some serious form in the last few months. In the recently played Twenty 20 Cup in England he has scored 279 runs in 6 innings with 147.62 strike rate and average of 55.8

Also in the first Edition of ‘The Hundred’, he  scored 348 runs in only 9 innings, averaging 58 with an explosive strike rate of 178.46

Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw was Delhi Capitals go to batsman in the first phase of IPL 2021. He scored 308 runs in 8 innings, averaging 38.5 at an unbelievable strike rate of 166.4

Out of 308 runs, he scored 223 only in powerplay with a brilliant average of 74.33. His strike rate in those overs was 187.4 which was the highest among all openers.

Prithvi Shaw also smashed 6 consecutive 4s to Shivam Mavi in an over in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Rahul Chahar took 4 wickets in a match played against Kolkata Knight Riders and gave only 27 runs in 4 overs. He also got the man of the match award in that match.

He was also the highest wicket-taker among the spinners. On the spin friendly pitches of UAE, he can be the trump card for Mumbai Indians. He also had the best economy among the players who had taken minimum 5 wickets in the tournament.
