Rajasthan Royals (RR) started their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign with a loss. The franchise suffered a defeat in a crunch encounter against Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 4 runs.

The Sanju Samson led Rajasthan Royals currently stand at number 5 in the IPL 2021 points table with 3 wins on their side and a net run rate of -0.190.

Phase 2 of IPL will give the Royals a chance to not only improve their net run rate but also to take a place in the top 4 spots. Rajasthan will need to win at least 5 out of their remaining 7 matches to reach 16 points count and better their chances in the race to playoffs.

Rajasthan will be playing their first match in phase 2 against KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings on 21st September. Having lost their season opener to Punjab, Rajasthan will try to win this match and level the battle by 1-1.

IPL 2021 Phase 2 will kickstart from Sunday, September 19th in UAE with Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings as the opening battle. BCCI is also looking forward to allowing spectators in the stadium, but only in the top-tier stands to follow the social-distancing protocols.
