Match Details – England Vs India

Match – 2nd Test Match

Time – 3.30 IST/10 AM GMT/11 AM Local.

England Vs India 2nd Test match  – Team Preview

England and India will again face off at the iconic stadium, Lord’s. After the first game drew at Trent Bridge, both teams will look to put up a good show in the second Test match which will start on 12th August 2021. England is the favourite to win the second Test match at Lord’s because they have a superior record against India. The visitors have won just two games at the historic venue, whereas England has won 12 Test matches against India.

India has been a heavy batting side over the years. But now, the team is known for their bowling. The Indian bowlers seemed to have mastered the art of bowling in English conditions. Jasprit Bumrah picked up nine wickets in the first match and will continue to be the leader of India’s pace attack in this series. Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Shami also did well in the last game.

The start for India was the main positive from the first Test match. KL Rahul made a brilliant comeback into the Test arena. He scored a vital 84 runs, which helped India to gain a lead in the first innings of the game. But a concern lies in the form of Rohit Sharma, who does not converted his starts often. The star opener has been getting those thirties and forties but has no overseas ton to his name yet. Lord’s will be the venue where Rohit will be eyeing for the big score.

Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane did get a chance in the first innings. But they were out much earlier than anyone would have expected. Rahane was run out while James Anderson picked up Pujara and Kohli on consecutive deliveries. At Lord’s, these three batsmen are expected to perform better.

England’s only concern would be the top three. Dominic Sibley, Rory Burns and Zak Crawley did not tackle the Indian bowlers well in the last match. India has a pretty good bowling lineup to trouble these three batters from England. So they might tweak their top three for the Test match at Lord’s.

The bowling of the hosts is world-class. James Anderson and Stuart Board are the best users of the new ball in their home conditions. Then Ollie Robinson as well, who did well in the first Test match, and also has a good record at Lord’s. But England also might think to add spin in their XI. So Jack leach might be getting a nod for the second Test.

Weather Report

The weather is unpredictable in England. According to the weather reports, rain was not expected on day five of the first Test match at Trent Bridge. But it still rained so heavily that the entire day was washed out without a ball being bowled. The weather forecast is good for the Lord’s test match for the entire five days with not much rain predicted.

England Vs India 2nd Test Match – Pitch Report

The second Test match of the five-match Test series will be at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Traditionally pitch at Lord’s assists the seam and pace bowlers for the first three days and the spinners  also join the party on the fourth and fifth day. To earn more fantasy points, we suggest our readers to pick a spin bowler to win more rewards. A spinner can turn the game in the last two days. But India will be under a huge dilemma to pick both Ashwin and Jadeja. England has Moeen Ali, who will be their first choice spinner if they decide to pick one.

India and England have played 18 matches at this venue. India has only two Test wins while England has won 12 Test matches, and four matches have ended in a draw at Lord’s. The last time India won a match at Lord’s was in 2014. India can pick Ishant Sharma for this reason. He was the one who destroyed the England batting by bowling short deliveries.

The average score at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in the 1st innings is 312, second innings is 298. Third innings 257 and fourth innings 155. Batting first teams have won 50 matches, and batting second teams have won 39 games.

Overall record of England Vs India in Test matches

The hosts England have a better record against India in Test matches. However, India will look to improve their record in this series. Both the teams have faced each other in 127 Test matches, and England won 48 of them while India has managed to win just 29 matches so far and 50 Test matches have ended in a draw.

Top Players for England vs India 2nd Test match

KL Rahul – The Indian opener batted magnificently in the last Test. He made a great comeback into India’s test side. He and Rohit added 97 runs for the first wicket, the highest in England after 2011. Rahul needs to capitalize on the starts to cement his place in the Test side. Rahul still holds the key for India as an opener in the second Test match.

Joe Root – The modern-day great and skipper of the England team Joe Edward Root still holds the key for his team. Root was the top scorer for England in the 1st innings, where they were bundled out for just 183 runs, and he scored 109 runs to make sure that England does not lose that game. He will be the player to watch out for because of his great form.

Sam Curran – The young all-rounder from England did not have a great Test match. But he possesses an immense talent. Sam Curran can be the great bowling all-rounder of England. He is a pure match-winner which many of us have seen in the IPL. Curran needs to step up for his team in their most favourite venues.

Jasprit Bumrah – India is known as the bowling powerhouse because of the bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah. He took nine wickets in the first match, and after his poor run in the WTC Final, he was under pressure to deliver. Bumrah is the key bowler for India in all three formats. So India will depend on his form to win at Lord’s.
