Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) haven’t had the season they wanted it to be, but their return in the most convincing fashion against a better-looked side Rajasthan Royals (RR) will surely boost their confidence.

Although they are out of the playoffs contention, their impact will definitely add some drama at the end of the league matches. What could be the plausible reasons, let’s have a look:

  • Jason Roy’s inclusion in the fragile top order

Jason Roy, the replacement of David Warner, in his very first match smashed 60 off just 42 balls. This is the dream start Sunrisers had always wanted from their openers especially their star player David Warner, whose poor run never ended in the IPL 2021. He was the orange cap holder in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Last night, the Sunrisers had the highest powerplay score of 63 runs in this IPL season with the loss of just one wicket. From now on, Sunrisers will bank on Roy to get more runs at the beginning of the match.

  • No pressure situation as they are out of the playoff’s race

It is all about the pressure to win the game and seal the spot to qualify for the playoffs. In an endeavor to achieve this, it seemed that the Sunrisers felt this pressure and couldn’t get going, but now as they are out of the playoffs’ contention, they would want to play freely.

  • Young players’ addition to the playing 11

Apart from David Warner, Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav were also struggling to give momentum to the middle order. Pandey did score some runs but with a below-par strike rate (114.35) while the latter was completely out of form scoring just 55 runs with a poor strike rate of 105.7.

Both these batsmen were replaced by talented all-rounder Abhishek Sharma and Priyam Garg. Abhishek Sharma was impressive with the bat last night and is always ready to grab such opportunities.

From the bowling department, Khaleel Ahmed was also not looking good this time and his replacement Sidharth Kaul bowled well against RR and took two wickets in the final 20th over without leaking any boundary.

It seems that the real game has begun for SRH and now they will play more aggressively and with more confidence.
