Mumbai Indians (MI) currently sit at the 4th spot on the India Premier League (IPL) 2021 points table. The defending champions started their campaign with a loss against the Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Mumbai Indians are one of the top 4 teams right now with 4 wins and 8 points on their side. The net run rate of +0.062 is good but the franchise has been far from their best. The team will try to register at least 4 more victories in their upcoming 7 matches to have better chances in maintaining their top 4 position.

Mumbai Indians will play the opening match of IPL 2021 phase 2 against MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings on 19th September 2021 in UAE. Mumbai won by 4 wickets in their last match against the Super Kings in phase 1.

MI are often termed as slow starters and their start in the first phase of the 14th edition of the tournament was no different. With half of their campaign ahead of them, the team will try to finish in the top 2 and play the 1st qualifier.
